Ghazal Poem

I sit here wondering what if you were still mine.
So many things we’d do if you were still mine.

We’d walk together down the old dirt lane.
Together we’d hum a tune if you were still mine.

We’d lie under the Oak tree and talk about everything in the world.
I’d tell you my deepest secrets if you were still mine.

We’d go to the river and fish for some trout with our worms.
I’d share my lunch with you if you were still mine.

We’d go ice skating on the frozen pond out back.
Together we’d laugh and we’d smile if you were still mine.

We’d lie on our backs and stare at the starry skies.
I’d point out the hidden Big Dipper if you were still mine.

We’d watch from our window with glee as the first snow fell.
Together we’d wait for Santa if you were still mine.

We’d watch the sun rise from the East, on the top of our house.
I’d sit beside your body if you were still mine.

We’d go for a swim in the ocean so deep and so blue.
You’d make me come into the water if you were mine.

We’d go home together and sit on the couch.
I’d stroke your furry head if you were mine.
