Spiritual Gifts

My top three spiritual gifts that I found out from the spiritual gifts test are G, L and N, or faith, mercy and shepherding. Faith means to me following and listening to God no matter what the situation may be, or how long you have to wait for something. Its trusting God in EVERY situation and even when you are unsure about what he is asking you to do, you do it without question. Mercy for me is helping anyone and everyone in need of help even it is doesn't seem like they deserve it. Mercy is talking with someone and trying to understand the way they are feeling, and helping them through tough times in their lives. Shepherding is helping others find their way to Christ and providing them with support and help whenever and however long they need it. These three things mean a lot to me and I am so thankful that God has given me these gifts.

Mrs. Gunther Day 6

Today we worked on fishing our SDS booklets. Then we researched the jobs we came up with with a website she gave us. I was able to finish my SDS booklet and found out that my code is SAR. The few jobs I came up with were a few different kinds of cooks, still photographer and another job but I can't remember the name of it. I did not have time to research my jobs with the website so I will do that at home. I don't know if the jobs I found out from the booklet are the right jobs for me though. I feel like God has something else planned out.

Mrs. Gunther Day 5

Today in class we looked at a power point and talked about the different ways people learn best. We then worked on the SDS booklets. What am I supposed to do if I don't know the jobs I am curious about? or I don't know what they're called? Next class is our last class with Mrs. Gunther and we are going to finish up our SDS booklets and maybe some other things.

Mrs. Gunther Day 4

Today we did personality tests. We also worked on the SDS. I finished the personality tests and found out that I am a Kenesthetic learner. I was able to learn more about myself and what I'm like. Next class I am going to work more on my SDS test because I was only able to write my name on the booklet.

Mrs. Gunther Day 3

Today in class we were each given a list of things that are found in careers. I then had to cut them out and paste them on a piece of colored paper in the order that was most important to me. The first two on my list were "helping others" and "influencing others." These two things are very important to me. For me I feel like these should be two of my main goals in life.

Mrs. Gunther Day 2

Talent: What each and every person is good at and has been given in a different form. It could be being able to listen to and understand the way people are feeling to being really good at basketball.

I think I have a number of talents that God has given me. Some of them being I am able to listen to, comfort  and mediate others, good with children, confident, can play sports, and am self controlled and motivated.

Mrs. Gunther Day 1 Questions

1) How do you plan on choosing a career?
I am going to do what I feel would be best for me. I'm going to ask my parents, grandparents and friends for help. I can also receive help through God and the Bible. I will choose a career that I will enjoy.
2) Does your gender matter?
Yes, gender can matter sometimes. If you are a woman and are planning to have a family someday, you may choose a career that you can have a flexible schedule or only work a few times a week. If you plan to have a family and are a man, then it may not matter to you as much. You may still want a job that doesn't have late/early hours so you can spend time with your family.
3) Who will help you chose a career?
My friends, family, teachers, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins and God.
4) Can the Bible offer any help?
Yes, the Bible offers lots of guidance and support. It helps you know what to do and how to do it. The Bible tells you what is right and wrong and gives really good advice.

"Feel the fear, and do it anyway."

One time my cousins, aunts, uncles and family went to swim in a lake about half an hour away from my cousin’s house in Whitefish, Montana. We got there and most of us did a big rope swing that was pretty high above the water. Then my cousins, uncle, dad and I went across the lake in canoes to a cliff that we were going to jump off of. The cliff was pretty high and most of my family, who came across the lake, jumped off into the water. My cousin Olivia and I were nervous to do it because it seemed so high to us. We both wanted to do it, but we couldn’t because we were really nervous. The time came when we had to go back across the lake to the rest of our family and so we could go home. My dad looked at my cousin and I, who were close in age at the time, and said,
“Guys if you want to do it you’re going to have to do it now because we have to go.”
“Alright I’ll go,” Olivia said. She walked up to the edge of the cliff and looked down. She stood frozen and with even with a lot of encouragement from all our family, she couldn’t do it. It was my turn. I stepped up to the cliff and just as Olivia had done, I looked down. The water was clear and blue and I got ready to jump, but I couldn’t. Like Olivia had done, I stood frozen on the cliff. “Come on Gen. You have to go or we have to go back,” my dad said.
I didn’t think about what I was doing. I took a step back, ran towards the edge, and jumped.

Migrant Mother Response

'How am I ever going to find enough food to feed both my daughters and myself?' Linda thought. Both her daughters, Mary and Liza stood with their heads resting on her shoulder talking quietly to one another. Linda was hungry herself, and she could only imagine how hungry Mary and Liza must be, and yet they hardly ever complained. She was scared and worried. The last time she had seen her husband had been last Wednesday. Today was Monday. Linda had no idea where he was or what had happened to him.
"Mommy, can we play a game?" Liza asked her.
"What game do you want to play?"her mother replied.
"Lets play tic-tac-toe!" Mary said happily. It was hard for Linda to feel any joy and happiness these days and she was surprised to hear Mary so happy.
"Alright." They sat together on the ground and Linda watched as Liza carefully drew 4 lines in the sand with her finger.
"I'll be x's, you be o's," Mary told Liza. Mary started and drew an x in one of the squares Liza had drawn. Then it was Liza's turn. With her finger she drew an o in the square right next to the x Mary had just drawn. They continued playing until Liza triumphantly said,
"I win!"
Their mother sat still watching the girls play, but her mind was racing. She couldn't stop thinking about her husband and wished that she knew where he was and he would come strolling in through the front door.
'Please God!' Linda thought. 'Please bring him safely home. I don't know what I'd do without um. What would the girls do? They need their father just as much as I need my husband! Please keep him safe."
She couldn't think about this any longer, or she knew she would begin to cry.
"Come on girls. Lets go for a walk," she said to Mary and Liza.
The girls got to their feet and Mary brushed away the tic-tac-toe board with her foot. Each of them took on of their mothers hands and they set off down the lane. Hand-in-hand they walked.
"Where are we going?" Mary asked.
"For a walk," her mother said.
"Where to?"
"I'm not sure."
She wasn't sure where they were going, or how long they would walk, but she just wanted to move and think of other things.
----------
When they got back to their home they were all tired and ready to go to sleep. It was dark now and Linda guessed it was about 8:00 at night. She helped her daughters take off their dresses and climb onto the blankets that served as their beds. She was tired herself and wanted to go to sleep like her little girls, so she walked over to the bowl of  brown water they had on the shelf and washed her face and hands. Then she picked up the blue rag from beside the bowl, wet it and washed her daughter's hands and face before they fell asleep.
"Goodnight Mommy," Liza said softly.
"Goodnight," she replied as she got into her own bed and fell asleep.

Wolf Response

"Mr.Wolf would you please give me your version of the story?" the judge asked me. I was sitting in court at a table facing the judge, who was a duck. To my right, there was another table and at it sat all three of the terrible, but tasty little pigs.

"Well I had just heard from my mother that some new neighbors had moved into town and I thought it would be polite to go down and introduce myself. I went and knocked on the first house I saw and was surprised to find that it was a pig. I started to say hello but the pig slammed the door in my face. I have been sick with a cold and so I sneezed and accidentally blew down his house. He ran and I followed him. He went to his brothers house and again I accidentally blew down his house. They ran to their last brothers house and I began to sneeze a lot. Thankfully the house did not blow down. I was upset though because they did not let me in so I climbed down the chimney, but landed in a pot of hot water and burned myself. Then I ran away and could hear the pigs laughing." I told her.

"Thank you. Now your version of the story please little pigs."

"We moved into town and we were each building our own homes. Mine was made of bricks and my brother's were made of sticks and hay. First the wolf came to my youngest brother's house and knocked on the door. He wouldn't let him in because he's a pig and there was a wolf knocking on the door! The wolf got angry and blew his house down. My brother ran to my other brother's house which was made of sticks and when they wouldn't let him inside, he blew their house down. So they ran to my house because there was no where else to go. When the wolf got there we wouldn't let him in and he became even more angry, so he tried to blow down my house, but he couldn't because it was made of bricks. So I guess he thought he'd come in through the chimney. I had been cooking a pot of soup for lunch and when I heard him coming down the chimney, I took the lid off and he fell in the soup. He shot back out of the chimney and ran away," the third little pig said.

"Thank you little pig. Now Mr.Wolf, why were you even going down to the little pig's houses?"

"I told you, I heard that new neighbors had moved into town and I was going to introduce myself!" I cried.  The judge looked at me, and then at the pigs.

"Is it true that you have just moved into town?" she asked the pigs.

"Yes," the second little pig replied. "But he blew down my house and my brother's house! They took a lot of work to build and now we will have to do it all over again!" She turned to me and said,

"Do you agree that you blew down their houses?"

"Yes, but I had a cold. I had been sneezing a lot that day and it just so happened that I sneezed their houses down."

She stared at us and began writing something on a paper in front of her. I could feel the sweat pouring down my face and back. I couldn't go to jail, not now. My life was just becoming exciting and there were all those little beavers I wanted to eat down by the river! I glanced around behind me. There was no one there except my mother and sister. They looked at me but I could not read their expressions. Was it disappointment? Amusement? Were they proud?

Behind the three pigs there were tons of animals! There was a mother goose and her goslings, three beavers, four pigs, a weasel and two deer. Some of them seemed afraid, others excited. One of the goslings whispered to its mother and the mother looked over at me. She glared and quickly pulled her children closer to her. The weasel was sitting uncomfortably in his chair while the three beavers sat gnawing on a piece of wood. The deer were gazing around the court room and the four pigs watched the judge write on her piece of paper. The only sound that was heard in the court room was the soft scratching of the pen she was using.

"Mr.Wolf," the judge started. "Were you going to eat the three pigs if they hadn't run away?"

"Of course not! Why would I want to eat them?" I replied. Of course I wanted to eat them! Pig were one of my favorites! My mouth began to water at the thought of eating pigs and I could almost taste their juicy flesh! Suddenly the judge cleared her throat loudly,

"Mr.Wolf, you are charged with destroying two houses and attempting to eat the three little pigs. This court is now closed. Thank you."

Where I'm From

Where I'm From
By Gentry Miller

I am from cattails,
from water and frogs.
I am from the long grass in the fields.
Running, as it grabbed at my legs.

I am from pellet stoves and ice cubes,
from special blankets and warm socks.
I'm from tadpoles,
and gophers caught in the schoolyard.

I'm from bicycles and trips to the lake,
big, slippery logs and the mystery beneath me.
I'm from mountains and snow,
hiking and warm, yellow flames.

I am from bedtime stories,
told with love.
I'm from sitting outside in the dark,
watching and listening to thunderstorms.

Alone I never will be,
for I am from the one who created all things.
